Mozia:
founded from the Phoenicians of Tiro towards the end of VII century B.C.,
famous for the fabrics dyed with the purple of shellfishes, the etymology maybe
means “silk-factory”. The city placed on a lagoon and protected by great walls, was
tied to the land by a paved street, still passable during the low tide. Nowadays Mozia
is property of Whitaker foundation, guarding not only the sacred area, but the whole
island with all its archaeological and artistic reports.
